Discover The Mounts with Guylaine Vallée
Vedic Palmistry - Discovering the Mounts
Over 5,000 years ago, Vedic sages recognized that changes in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are reflected in the lines and mounts of our hands. By understanding ourselves through the palm, we can gain insight into the shifts we need to make.
The mounts form the foundational layer of the palm, reflecting the deepest levels of our psyche, including the most deeply held convictions and beliefs developed over many lifetimes. These include the samskaras—latent mental impressions, habits, and karmic tendencies shaped by all past experiences. Samskaras encompass our desires, attachments, disappointments, fears, and reactions, gradually dissolving as we develop greater self-awareness.
A thorough knowledge of the hand’s ten mounts is essential to fully understand and properly practice Vedic Palmistry . In this course, you will explore the ten mounts, also called the “planetary zones” of the hand, each representing the energies, qualities, and characteristics of the planet with which it is associated.
The ten mounts and their prominent attributes are:
• Moon (Luna) : perception
• Venus : love
• Mars Negative: physical strenght
• Jupiter : purpose
• Saturn : discipline
• Sun : magnetism
• Mercury : communication
• Mars Positive : mental stamina
Rahu and Ketu: points of intersection that influence how the other mounts interact.
• Rahu : reflects karma we are creating in the present moment
• Ketu : reflects accumulated past karma.
Balanced mounts act like fertile soil in the palm, nurturing the growth of strong and healthy lines. A line that travels across balanced mounts will be healthier and more vibrant than one that traverses underdeveloped or negatively influenced mounts. You will learn the qualities associated with each mount and how to identify when a mount is balanced, overactive or underactive.

Take a Look Inside : See what the Introduction to the Mounts Course is all about
LESSON 1
Introduction to the Mounts
The mounts correspond to the planetary bodies of our solar system, with each planet represented in its own area of the hand. Each mount carries specific energies, traits, and characteristics that influence us on every level—body, mind, and soul.
LESSON 2
Basic Principles of Vedic Philosophy as a Foundation for the Practice of Palmistry
In In this lesson, we explore Vedic philosophy, drawn from India’s oldest and most revered ancient scriptures. Vedic philosophy forms the foundation of the spiritual aspects of Vedic palmistry, including the concept of the soul as individualized Spirit, the three bodies (causal, astral, and physical), and the law of karma. We will also examine the differences between the two hands (dominant and non-dominant) and the three levels of consciousness.
LESSON 3
The Philosophical Explanation of the Mounts
In this lesson, we continue exploring the spiritual aspects of Vedic palmistry by examining the soul’s evolutionary journey from Spirit to Matter, reflected in the mounts—from the element of ether (Mercury) to the element of earth (Venus). We will also explore the relationship between the mounts, the seven chakras, and the five elements of Creation.
LESSON 4
Matter to Spirit : The Evolutionary Cycle of the Mounts
In this lesson, we approach the soul’s evolutionary journey of the mounts in reverse, and retrace our steps from Matter back to Spirit. We will look at how this is reflected in the hand through the journey from Venus (earth) back to Mercury (ether).
LESSON 5
Mount Tests : How to Determine the Development of a Mount — Balanced, Overactive and Underactive
In this lesson, we will explore the morphological tests used to assess the level of balance of each mount—whether balanced, overactive, or underactive. The ten tests include: formation, placement, texture, consistency, color, temperature, the three worlds, papillary patterns, positive and negative markings, and the factors that establish a mount as a leading force in the hand.
LESSON 6
Standard Reference for Determining Balance in the Mounts
In this lesson, you will learn the standard measurements used to determine the balance of each mount. You will also learn the palmistry principles relating to the mounts, including QQH (quantity, quality and height) as well as the theory of the pendulum syndrome that explores the impact of karma on the formation of the mounts.
LESSON 7
Test One — The Level of Development of Each Mount
In this lesson, you will learn how planetary energy is expressed through each mount depending on its level of development—balanced, overactive and underactive. We will examine the mounts following their evolutionary journey from Luna to Ketu.
LESSON 8
Test Two— The Placement of the Fingers and Mounts
In this lesson, you will learn to determine the three levels of development by the placement of the fingers and the mounts. We will also explore the role of the five fingers in relation to the five elements and the chakras, and how to determine if we are going with the flow of our evolutionary journey or if we are stuck or backsliding.
LESSON 9
Test Three — The Texture of Each Mount
In this lesson, you will take an in-depth look at the texture of each mount to determine its level of development (medium texture/balance, coarse texture/overactive and fine texture/underactive) and the characteristics associated with each level.
LESSON 10
Test Four — The Consistency of Each Mount
In this lesson, you will take an in-depth look at the consistency of each mount to determine its level of development (resilient/balance, hard /overactive and soft/underactive) and the characteristics associated with each level.
LESSON 11
Test Five — The Colour of Each Mount
In this lesson, you will take an in-depth look at the color of each mount to determine its level of development (pink/balance, red/overactive and white/underactive) and the characteristics associated with each level.
LESSON 12
Test Six — The Temperature of Each Mount
In this lesson, you will take an in-depth look at the temperature of each mount to determine its level of development (warm/balance, hot/overactive and cold/underactive) and the characteristics associated with each level.
LESSON 13
Test Seven — The Three Worlds of the Finger and Mount
In this lesson, you will learn to determine the degree of balance in the mounts and fingers by assessing the level of balance in the three worlds of the mount and the three phalanges of the finger. We will explore how each world influences our lives and learn how to recognize whether a world is balanced or imbalanced.
LESSON 14
Test Eight — Papillary Patterns and Triradii
Papillary patterns—the tiny ridges on the surface of the skin that form the basic skin pattern—consist of upper friction ridges and lower furrow ridges. They create the foundation of the mounts. In this lesson, you will learn how to interpret the papillary patterns on each mount to determine its level of balance.
LESSON 15
Test Nine — Activity on the Mount and Finger : Lines of Wisdom and Obstruction
In this lesson, we examine one of the most important aspects of palmistry: the activity on each mount, including positive and negative markings, to understand how the planetary energy of each mount is being expressed.
LESSON 16
Test Ten — Leading Mount
In this lesson, you will learn how to identify the strongest mount in the hand—the leading mount—and how its energy influences every aspect of our existence, from our physical appearance and psychological makeup to the relationships we attract and the careers we pursue.
