LESSON 1
The Philosophy of Rahu and Ketu
The mythology of the Churning of the Cosmic Ocean is far more than an ancient legend—it is a symbolic map of the forces that shape human consciousness. Through this timeless story, we explore the profound dynamics of desire and detachment, ambition and surrender, and how these opposing currents express themselves through the influence of Rahu and Ketu. This foundational lesson reveals why these shadow planets hold the key to understanding the soul's evolutionary journey.
LESSON 2
Ketu and the Three Levels of Development
Ketu's unusual structure makes it unlike any other mount in the hand. Extending from the wrist and karmic bracelets into the palm, it forms a small cave-like space between the Mounts of Venus and Moon—the Cave of Ketu.
Within this symbolic cave lies our karmic record: the accumulated thoughts, desires, fears, and unresolved impressions carried from lifetime to lifetime. In this lesson, you'll learn how to recognize the three levels of Ketu's development and what they reveal about your spiritual inheritance and evolutionary path.
LESSON 3
The Triad and Morphological Features
Ketu cannot be understood in isolation. Its expression is deeply influenced by its neighboring mounts of Venus and Moon. Ketu is the seed of past karma waiting to sprout in the fertile soil of Venus and be nourished by the gentle rains of the Moon. Whether the karmic seeds of the past remain dormant or flourish into present experience depends greatly upon the development of these three interconnected regions of the hand. This lesson introduces the powerful Ketu-Venus-Moon triad and teaches you how to interpret their combined influence. Additionally, we will look at the four morphological factors: texture, consistency, color and temperature that will help you understand your Ketu.
LESSON 4
Ketu Activity and Levels of Awareness
The activity found on Ketu reveals the quality of the karmic impressions we carry from the past and the degree to which we consciously participate in shaping our present karma. As the significator of moksha, or liberation, Ketu reflects our potential for self-realization and our capacity to transcend ego and act from the heart and intuition. Yet, as the headless demon, Ketu can also express itself through unconscious instinct, seeking comfort, pleasure, and security. In this lesson, you'll discover how to recognize and interpret the various forms of activity on Ketu and what they reveal about your level of spiritual awareness, karmic tendencies, and inner development.
LESSON 5
Rahu: The Present Moment and the Three Levels of Development
At its heart, the study of Rahu is an inquiry into consciousness itself—into how we are continually drawn between the memories of the past, the ambitions and desires that beckon us toward the future, and our capacity to remain fully present in the here and now.
The three levels of Rahu’s development offer a clear way to recognize where we are situated within this dynamic movement of consciousness. In this lesson, you'll discover how Rahu can manifest as balanced ambition, insatiable craving, or a diminished awareness of life's opportunities, and how this understanding reveals the way our desires shape our destiny.
LESSON 6
The Morphology of Rahu — Being Centered at The Hub of the Hand
Rahu may be compared to the still center of the Tai Chi symbol—where the complementary forces of yin and yang come together—not as opposing forces in conflict, but as dynamic energies seeking harmony. The study of morphological features allows us to observe how this balance is expressed in the hand and reflected in our journey toward greater awareness through Rahu. It reveals our capacity to recognize the transformative power of the present moment, remain centered rather than be pulled to extremes and cultivate our potential for inner transformation.
LESSON 7
Rahu Activity — Awakening to What the Present Moment Holds
We explore how the activity of Rahu can offer insight into how life is unfolding. By observing whether Rahu shows more challenging or more supportive indications, we can better understand the kinds of circumstances that may influence our progress toward our goals. A major focus of this course is the study of the Destiny line, as it provides a framework for understanding how our past impressions, present actions, and future possibilities are woven together in the unfolding of life.
LESSON 8
Activity on the Mount of Rahu (Part 2)
This lesson continues the study of Rahu activity by expanding beyond the Destiny line. Here, we observe additional indicators such as assistant destiny lines, stars, triangles, and interference lines, which reveal more subtle patterns of influence within the Mount of Rahu. The value of this study lies in its ability to bring awareness and correction. By understanding Rahu activity, we become more conscious of how our thoughts and actions shape our experiences. We also gain awareness of the choices within our karmic patterns and the opportunity to refine our attitude and behaviour. In this way, life is able to unfold in a more conscious and harmonious way.
LESSON 9
The Lunar Nodes in the Birth Chart: Rahu and Ketu in Action
In this lesson, we bring together the study of Rahu and Ketu as the two lunar nodes within the birth chart, understanding how they function as a unified axis of experience. Rather than acting as isolated influences, they reveal a continuous movement between past and future, instinct and aspiration, contraction and expansion. By examining the nodes within the context of the entire chart, we gain a clearer understanding of how these forces shape our patterns of experience and express themselves through the various areas of life.
LESSON 10
The Present: Where Life is Occurring
Throughout this course, we have explored Ketu, the roots of our past; Rahu, the field of our present experience; the morphology of the hand; and the signs that reveal how consciousness expresses itself. In this final lesson, we step back and ask the most important question of all: What is the deeper purpose of understanding Rahu and Ketu?
